Course Overview - Musselburgh Golf Club

Long, well bunkered and blessed with beautifully wide fairways, our course showcases many of James Braid’s characteristic flourishes and remains largely unchanged from his original 1930s design.

A timeless James Braid design

Braid was tasked with creating a course that would put Musselburgh back on the golfing map, and deliver it he did. A five-time Open champion himself, Braid understood instinctively what makes a course Championship quality and crafted a long, wide layout that has stood the test of time and remains a test for the modern golfer, with additional tees added to ensure that it’s an enjoyable round for everyone.

Captivating year-round colour

Surrounded by nature, here you can feel a world away from the hum of everyday life. Established woodland with some 5,000 trees including oaks, sycamores, pines, chestnuts and cherry trees offer ever-changing colour through the seasons and shelter from the coastal winds that whip East Lothian’s links courses, while our resident families of deer are often spotted foraging beyond the rough.
